Video: The quenda in Craigie Bushland

Thu, 14 Mar 2019

In 2010 the City of Joondalup put up a predator proof fence around Craigie Bushland near Perth. In 2013 they introduced 43 quenda, a threatened native digging mammal. University of Western Australia researcher Dr Leonie Valentine has been monitoring the quenda at the reserve. She talks about the project and how the quenda have fared in this video.

Our research into quenda and their role as ecosystem engineers is a collaboration between the University of Western Australia, City of Joondalup and the Western Australian Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions. The project is part of the Threatened Species Recovery Hub of the Australian Government's National Environmental Science Program.
